You’ve Been the Strong One Long Enough
Therapy for Women of Color Carrying Too Much for Too Long
You’re the one who shows up. Who holds it all together.
The one your family, your friends, your partner can always count on—even when you’re running on empty.
You’ve mastered the art of pushing through—always doing, always giving.
But now... it’s catching up. The anxiety. The grief. The burnout. The quiet self-doubt that no one sees.
And deep down, you’re asking yourself:
“How much longer can I keep going like this?”
Maybe you’ve tried to talk about it before—
Only to hear, “Just pray on it,” or “You’re strong, you’ve got this.”
But strength doesn’t mean suffering in silence. And healing shouldn’t be a solo journey.
I work with high-achieving women of color who are tired of surviving and ready to heal.
Whether you’re navigating trauma, grief, identity shifts, or the pressure to be “the strong one”—this space is for you.
Here, you don’t have to explain your culture. You don’t have to minimize your pain.
You just get to be human.
Together, we’ll unlearn the patterns that are keeping you stuck, build emotional clarity, and reconnect you with the version of yourself that’s been buried under the weight of expectations.
You deserve more than just holding it all together. You deserve to heal. Let’s begin.
Hi, I’m Katrina Wilkes,
I Help High-Achieving Women of Color Heal Trauma, Anxiety, & Self-Doubt.
Holding Space for Strong Women of Color Who Are Tired of Silently Carrying It All
You’ve always handled everything on your own.
But lately, the emotional weight you’ve been carrying—quietly, for years—feels heavier than ever.
I specialize in helping self-sufficient, high-achieving women of color who are ready to stop surviving and start truly healing.
If any of this sounds like you, you’re in the right place:
Anxiety that won’t let your mind rest – Constant overthinking. Always “on.” Struggling to slow down.
Unprocessed trauma and past wounds – Painful experiences that still echo through your relationships, your self-worth, and your nervous system.
Depression that makes everything feel heavy – That stuck, foggy, disconnected feeling that just won’t lift.
Chronic people-pleasing + low self-worth – Always putting others first, while wondering if you are ever enough.
“You don’t have to carry this alone anymore.”
Therapy isn’t about perfection—it’s about liberation.
Together, we’ll do the deeper healing work to help you feel safe, empowered, and fully yourself again.
Why Mental Lift is Different
This isn’t just therapy. It’s a space built for women like you to finally exhale.
-
Therapy for Women Who Are Done Surviving and Ready to Heal.
This isn’t therapy that asks you to be strong.
It’s therapy that understands why you’ve had to be.Culturally-responsive means you don’t have to explain your experience as a woman of color—because I see it, I honor it, and I’ve created this space with you in mind.
Trauma-informed means we won’t just talk about what’s happening now—we’ll gently uncover the why, and work with your nervous system to help you feel safe in your own body again. You’ve carried anxiety, people-pleasing, grief, high-functioning burnout, and unspoken pain for years—often with a smile.
But healing doesn’t have to be another thing you push through.I created Mental Lift for high-achieving women of color who are tired of surviving and ready to feel whole again.
We’ll slow down, unlearn what survival taught you, and rebuild from a place of self-trust, self-compassion, and real relief. You don’t need to earn rest. You don’t need to prove your pain. You just need a space that gets it—and someone who walks with you through it.
This is that space. And I’d be honored to hold it with you.
-
You’ve spent so long bracing yourself for the next wave—of stress, of grief, of pressure to “keep it together.”
Here, you don’t have to brace anymore.
This is a space where you get to soften, release, and finally breathe.Your healing won’t be rushed, minimized, or stuffed into a one-size-fits-all plan.
It will be intentional, collaborative, and rooted in what actually works for you. Some sessions will go deep. Others will be quiet or gentle.
You set the tone—and I’ll walk with you through every step. This isn’t therapy that just teaches you how to cope.
It’s therapy that helps you unlearn survival mode and reconnect with your body, your truth, and your worth. We’ll use evidence-based tools like:
Trauma-Focused CBT to shift internalized beliefs and narratives
Brainspotting to access and release trauma stored in the body
Mindfulness to slow your nervous system and reconnect with the present
Together, we’ll create a healing path that fits your real life—not just your calendar.
This is more than therapy. It’s the beginning of feeling safe inside yourself again.

Therapy with me isn’t just about talking—it’s about doing.
We’ll go beyond surface-level conversation and dig into what’s really keeping you stuck—then use evidence-based, real-life strategies to help you shift, heal, and move forward.
Here’s what you’ll walk away with:
Clarity around your emotional patterns – Understand why you think, feel, and react the way you do—and how to start shifting it.
Tools for managing anxiety and overthinking – So you don’t spiral into self-doubt or stay stuck in your head.
Boundary-setting skills that feel doable – So you can say no without guilt and stop abandoning yourself for others.
Emotional regulation techniques – So you can respond, not react—even when life feels overwhelming.
A clear, sustainable path forward – Therapy isn’t forever. We’ll create a healing plan with real direction, not just endless talk.
This isn’t just venting—it’s deep work with real tools that create real change.
You’ve done the hard part—surviving. Now let’s work on what comes next.

My Journey: From Silence to Strength
I know what it’s like to navigate the world as a woman of color in spaces that weren’t made for us.
To be the strong one. To stay quiet. To carry it all while feeling unseen.
That silence shaped me. But it also fueled my purpose.
I created The Mental Lift to be the therapy space I wish I had—where women of color can stop performing, start healing, and feel fully seen.
I bring evidence-based tools like CBT, Brainspotting, and mindfulness, but what makes this work different is that I get it—not just clinically, but personally.
I’ve lived the pressure. I’ve felt the burnout. And I know what it means to finally feel safe.
You don’t have to shrink, translate, or push through here. This space was built with you in mind.
Is This the Space You’ve Been Needing?
You’re a woman of color who’s ready to unpack the emotional wounds you've been carrying and unlearn the patterns that no longer serve you.
You want a therapist who gets it—someone who understands both the science of healing and the cultural truths that have shaped your experience.
You’re tired of navigating this alone.
And you’re ready to invest in your peace, your healing, and yourself.
If that’s you, let’s talk. Your healing starts today.
Why I Do This Work
As a Black woman, I know what it’s like to grow up in a culture where mental health isn’t talked about, and pain is expected to be buried beneath strength.
Whether it’s the pressure to be the “strong one,” the fear of being labeled “too emotional,” or the silent grief passed down through generations—we’re often taught to hold it in and push through.
But I believe strength isn’t about carrying it all alone.
Strength is choosing to heal.
I created Mental Lift to offer women of color a safe, nonjudgmental space to finally unpack the emotional weight they’ve been carrying—at their own pace, and in their own way.
Whether you're navigating:
Childhood or generational trauma
Grief and family dynamics
Anxiety, burnout, or self-worth struggles
You deserve a space where you’re seen, supported, and deeply understood.
Master’s in Clinical Social Work – University of Southern California
7+ years supporting women of color through trauma, grief, and emotional overwhelm
Certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
Trained in Brainspotting (BSP) – for deep, somatic trauma healing
Mindfulness-based & nervous system-informed care
This isn’t therapy that asks you to “just talk it out.”
It’s therapy that meets your whole self—mind, body, and story.
If you’ve been carrying it alone, this is your permission to let that go. You don’t have to heal by yourself anymore.
